I was practicing the Wim Hof method again today after experimenting with Sudarshan Kriya yoga earlier in the week.
Sudarshan Kriya yoga is a method of patterned breathing that also incorporates a type of forceful breathing similar to Wim Hof called Bhastrika
I discovered it was possible to feel some relaxation after Bhastrika breathing, similar to Wim Hof, and wanted to take what I learned and apply it to the Wim Hof Method.
Experiencing Emotional Release
Today, I sat cross-legged and focused on a deep, relaxed inhale and a forceful, full exhale. I used the guided technique video that I’ve used before.
Today, however, by the third round, I had triggered something in my emotional body and felt the urge to cry. I balled. It felt good. I wanted to let it happen. I did another round and the same thing happened.
I love when I have these types of experiences because they are powerful enough to bring me to tears. Afterward, however, I did feel a little worse emotionally, as if I’d summoned up some negative energy.
I like to think that creating this effect is good for me, and good for my healing. I guess only time will tell.
