Comparing Yourself to Others

I spent the first part of my adult life in constant comparison to others.

I was full of judgment. I criticized constantly, yet I didn’t realize it at the time.

This was my reality. But in reality, I was just a hamster on a wheel. Going nowhere.

This chapter, no doubt, was critical to reaching the next chapter but I remember these days being permeated with stress, worry, fear, and exhaustion.

So many of us live or have lived with a complete focus on comparing ourselves to others.

We are fooled early on to believe that we must have what everyone tells us we should have. It is rare, less rare today I feel, for a person to decide for themselves which way they will go.

Deciding for yourself the life you want to lead is the end of comparing yourself to others; when you begin to focus on what’s right for you there can be no comparison because there is no one else like you.

So do you and do it as fully and as joyfully as you are able.
