Lately, I’ve been running into a wall when it comes to creating a more enjoyable life.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I have been growing and changing, trying new things, and pushing outside the bounds of my comfort zone. But these efforts seem minute and practically indistinguishable.
On top of that, there is no knowing what will come from them. I am trying to enjoy the process without worrying about the destination.
But apart from that, I have been facing the realities of failure and the fears that go along with that, and at this time in my life, all I can do is surrender to those feelings.
For most of my adult life, I have tried to push past those feelings, to overcome them with “mind power” or will, or positive thinking.
There is a place for positive thinking but first, you must forgive and surrender.
What does it mean to surrender?
I recently shot a video talking about surrender and in that video, I talk about noticing the thing we don’t want within us and allowing it to be there.
This can be hard to do, especially if the pain is deep and we’ve become particularly unconscious to it. That means we are not good at noticing it and bringing it into our awareness. Time, patience, and compassion are needed before we can lovingly accept those dark parts of ourselves.
But fundamentally, forgiveness (aka surrender) is required before we can allow those dark parts of ourselves to materialize into light. That is to transmute blocked energy into spiritual power, into light and freedom within ourselves. For when these energies stop controlling us, we’re able to grow in spite of them. They get uprooted and we are able to rise beyond where we were tethered before.
Surrender is a beautiful action and it only requires your attention. I encourage you to try it.
I’m curious now, what is your experience with surrender and how are you using it on your spiritual journey?
